This tutorial, intended for the IUID novice, will provide the participant with the background necessary for understanding IUID…what it is, why it is important, how data is captured and how it is implemented.

eBusiness 101 Basics Tutorial

Speaker: Lisa Romney, Defense Procurement, Acquisition Policy, and Strategic Sourcing (OUSD (AT&L) / DPAPSS)

In conjunction with the Department of Defense Business Transformation Agency (BTA), DPAP is leading the efforts to make sure policies, processes, data, technology and people are aligned and integrated to provide a consistent experience for suppliers and DoD stakeholders. This session will provide an overview of the history and the objectives of DoD eBusiness Strategies.

Contracting Basics

This session will detail how the mandatory IUID DFARS clause is applied and what it means. Also understand where UID must be incorporated and how a contract must be constructed to accommodate getting the data needed for UID and valuation purposes.

Strategies for Satisfying Technical Documentation Requirements

Gain an understanding of how selection of marking methods influence technical documentation requirements; relevant standard practices and engineering documentation required to support UII marking;  and how UII marking requirements can be incorporated into technical documentation.

This session will describe information technology capabilities and initiatives DoD is pursuing to streamline processes, achieve more interoperability within government and with industry, and improve data accuracy and visibility for sourcing supplies and services. The various efforts being accomplished at the DoD enterprise level and with the Components to achieve these objectives will also be covered.

Presented by the USA Committee, this unbiased presentation will help guide you on what you need to know before selecting your technology partners. The components to UID implementation will be covered, to include: marking methods/options; verification of the mark; UID Registry; RFID shipping labels; and how to turn your data into knowledge to streamline business processes.

WAWF & Registry Tutorial

Speakers: Carol Albany, DCMA Electronic Business Directorate; Jenna Tomalka, Matthew Mills, DLIS - LDA

This tutorial will guide the audience through the basics of Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF) and will showcase step-by-step instructions on using WAWF for web-entry screens for submitting data to the IUID Registry and maintaining the data. Also learn more details on the IUID Registry: how to use it; the planned improvements i.e., sharing data with Service and Agency systems (API); establishing UII to NSN relationship; and development of the GFM Registry.

Note: There will be interactive demos for WAWF and the Registry in the exhibit hall following this session.

IUID Enabled Product Life Cycle Management – Know the Possibilities!

Understand the inherent benefits and possibilities of IUID by learning how the USMC simulated a Program Manager’s “seek and apply” strategy for legacy IUID marking and registration of 41 USMC Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) legacy assets. The product life cycle benefits of the project included: improved data quality; in-process efficiencies; inventory efficiency/accuracy; and record/administration management.

Attend this session to understand how to truly implement a UID solution by hearing the details of the process directly from SPAWAR. You will understand how to start the process; the details from conception (CONOPS,
documentation) to process of selecting vendors; how to establish program
requirements and identify necessary hardware and software; and finally how
to use the data for operational intelligence.

Participate in an interactive discussion on the challenges for marking items to include managing engineering analysis; changes to technical documentation; marking new items; the data capture challenges that were encountered; and AIS systems integration.

Discover how the DoD manages its contractor performance data through the use of the Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS) and the Past Performance Information Retrieval System (PPIRS).

IUID-Enabled Serialized Item Management

This session will focus on IUID as an enabler to Serialized Item Management and ultimately to materiel readiness and Life Cycle management.  Special emphasis will be placed on implementing IUID in Maintenance and how it has become a key enabler for MRO. Lastly, the key aspect of integrating IUID-SIM into information systems and processes will be discussed.

Electronic Subcontracting Reporting System (eSRS)

Speaker: Kristine Preece, Business Transformation Agency, DoD

Electronic Subcontracting Reporting System (eSRS) has taken government subcontract reporting online.  Paper-based Standard Form (SF) 294, Subcontracting Report for Individual Contracts and 295, Summary Subcontract Report will be replaced with Individual Subcontract Report (ISR) and the Summary Subcontract Report (SSR) using eSRS.  Learn how this system will help the DoD better manage its subcontracting numbers and find out what this new system will mean to both contractors and government officials.

Property Transfers and Property Accountability

Understand the interrelationship between the IUID and property accountability policies, to include revised GFP requirements in the DFARS. Learn the processes to add new items to the IUID Registry and Property Systems (via WAWF and Direct Updates), as well as property transfers/custody changes and other lifecycle events. Learn about the process and lessons learned as the Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) was enhanced to use IUID, and interact with WAWF and the IUID Registry via GEX.

Contract Administration – Supplier Facing Tools

Receive an overview/update of DCMA External Web Access Management (EWAM) eTools designed to interface with DoD vendors and enhance and/or improve upon certain legacy contract administration transactions.  Current tools exist in the support of the plant clearance process; lost, theft, damaged, and destroyed property disposition; Duty Free Entry; and other functional areas.
